Student Helping Honduras

This year our Christmas Card had the statement: "Be the change you want to see in the world today" I love this saying and want to expose the many wonderful individuals who I have had the honor of photographing who are living this motto.
Chelsea Lindamood is a 4th year student at Virginia Tech and graduated high school from West Irondequoit in 2007. Over the years she worked as my nanny during the summer months, and my kids absolutely love her. She was the person who not only took them to Seabreeze but went on all the rides, she taught them all the latest dance moves and one time made funky hula hoops out of materials she bought at home depot. I think you get the idea-she was an active participant in her nanny job, not just sitting and reading a book. At Virginia she is majoring in marketing and has been scouting out job opportunities both in the upstate NY area and in the warmer climates she so loves. Over Thanksgiving break we had an opportunity to get together and talk about her latest venture. In January she will be heading to Honduras with a group of 6 students from school. She will pay for her flight to Honduras and be bringing various supplies for the children at the orphanage. When she is there she is not entirely sure what her daily role will be but is certain she will be working in an orphanage in San Pedro Sula. She also will be doing manual labor at a project site and working to help young students. At night she will be enjoying some social and cultural events. Chelsea said that her inspiration is Morgan Harrington, a classmate that was tragically murdered in October 2009 when she was abducted from a Metallica concert. During the difficult times after Morgans abduction Chelsea learned of the volunteer work Morgan had been involved with with the OMNI organization. That was a perspective of Morgan that Chelsea had not even known about despite their close relationship. This has become a moving force in Chelseas life today.
I wish Chelsea a successful and safe trip filled with love, giving and more inspiration. If you would like to learn more about SHH or OMNI please check out the links below. If you would like to donate any supplies to the children she will be helping please visit Chelsea on facebook at: http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1373040079.

Dancers

Hi, Hope you are all getting ready for a festive Thanksgiving. I wanted to share some photos of a few dancers from my daughter, Summers, dance studio (Marilyn Schneider) They came over last month and we took some pictures out on the beach. Despite the cold day the dancers put on a warm face and showed their stuff. It was fun for me and I hope fun for the dancers.
Happy Thanksgiving,
Jacqui

Motherhood

Could pregnant be any more beautiful than this? Jillian is on her 5th child and still looks amazing. She has the most relaxed demeanor and is one of those people that you just want to be around. I have been honored to photograph each of her pregnancies and love how the shots from the last session turned out. Happy Mothers Day to you, Jillian and to all Moms. Motherhood is a never ending job filled with the highest highs and lowest lows-a true roller coaster ride.
Peace-and enjoy the ride, Jacqui

Sweet Boy

OK, I am trying to be a "good blogger" so I am going to post the pictures of that cute little boy that I promised yesterday. He is precious and was so much fun to photograph. His very relaxed Mom made taking a lot of unique pictures an easy job (she was glad her husband stayed home for some of the tree photos we did!) Hope little Aiden brings a smile to your face, he did to mine-

First Time Blog

Well I have never nor did I ever think I would be a blogger. I must thank my sister, Linda, for her inspiration. Her blog is awesome and beautiful..so I stole all her great ideas. Hey Lynn, Mom always said "no need to reinvent the wheel". It is spring and I am happy for the loads of sunshine and some of the brand new babies I have been blessed to photograph. I am hoping to post a couple of pictures tomorrow of the latest little boy that I worked with (he is too cute!) In the meantime check out my sisters blog (lindasbellabeads is her website) and visit tomorrow and check out some squishy little baby pictures. Peace, Jacqui
